Who We Are
A veteran-owned nonprofit based in Creede, Colorado.
An average of 17.5 veterans die by suicide every day in the United States. More emergency responders now die by suicide than in the line of duty. Nearly 80% of all suicides in America are men, and most of them will never seek treatment.
These men are not going to sign up for counseling. But they will say yes to five days in the Colorado mountains with a group of men who understand.
The best thing you can do for a family is light a fire in the man who leads it. That is what Lost Trails exists to do.
Lost Trails Foundation helps men rediscover the trail back to who they were made to be, through adventure, brotherhood, and faith in the Colorado backcountry.
Built On
Three Pillars
Adventure
Horses, fly rods, backcountry Colorado. For many of the men who come, it is the first time in years they have done something just for the experience of it. That is enough to start opening a man up.
Brotherhood
Six men. Five days. Nowhere to perform. By day five, men are having conversations they have never had with anyone. Those bonds do not end when the trip does.
Faith
The teaching is Christ-centered and grounded in the belief that every man was made on purpose, for a purpose. You do not have to be a Christian to attend. The question we come back to: Who did God actually make me to be?
$2,200 fully funds one man's retreat. $12,950 funds an entire retreat for all six men. Every dollar goes directly to program costs. Every donor receives a personal update after the retreat.
Lost Trails Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. All donations are tax-deductible.

A trip that is hard to describe.
Colorado Trip
Long post because it's hard to describe this trip to Colorado. A buddy of mine invited me on it and he was the only person out of 3 other veterans that I knew. Their stories were humbling. One dude worked on a ranch growing up, then was homeless for 3 years, enlisted in the Navy on a BUD/S contract, broke his back during Hell week, rehabilitated to where he could go again, broke his back yet again but paralyzed this time.
Rehabilitated to where he's fully functional but has an AI prosthetic on his right leg. Now he and his buddy helped form an anti human trafficking organization that travels the world doing direct action operations against scumbags in that world.
Another guy was Army Infantry and got blown up on one of his first missions. Was the only dude to get out alive from his burning HUMVEE but he's burned on about 70% of his body and can't feel anything there. Now works on a ranch up in NM. Both guys have got the most positive attitudes on the planet and still have a great sense of humor!
There's magic in those mountains where God is showing off His creation.

A grounding experience.
Colorado Trip
My time at Lost Trails Foundation was one of the most grounding experiences I’ve had since leaving the military. The program was built around reconnecting with God, but it didn’t feel forced in a rigid way. It happened naturally through time spent outdoors, horseback riding, fly fishing, and camping. What stood out most to me was being around other guys who understood where I was coming from. There wasn’t any need to explain everything or put on a front.
We were able to have real, deep conversations about life, faith, and the things we’ve carried with us. Those conversations did more than anything else to help me slow down and reset.
The experience helped me get back into a clear mindset. Being away from noise and distractions, combined with the environment and the people, gave me space to reflect and refocus. It reminded me of what matters and helped me reconnect with both my faith and my sense of direction moving forward.
